How to grow a beard
At some point every man will look in the mirror and question "How do I grow a beard?". If you are one of those men we have put together a quick guide to help you on your journey to growing a stylish beard.
Where to start?
Before you start growing your beard many barbers suggest that you clean shave first as this will minimise any irritation, underlying skin conditions and stimulate the hair folicles and promote an even growth. Before shaving use a face wash to scrub off any dirt, dead skin or excess oils. Gently pat your face until dry and apply some pre shave oil before applying your shave cream. As your beard starts to grow back you may feel the urge to itch it, this is where products such as beard oils and post shave balms come in.
What do I need to grow and maintain a beard?
As your beard grows back you may want to decide on what type of beard you want to grow as there are many styles and shapes to go for. Once you've decided on a shape that suits you, you'll to need trim it as you go along to maintain the shape. Now you've grown your beard, you'll need to keep it clean and that's where our range of Captain beard shampoos come in. After you washed your beard condition your beard with some beard oil, helps moisturise the skin under your facial hair. Many people also use beard balm along with the beard oil as this enhances the benefits of using the beard oil giving your beard a thicker and smoother finish. Using the balm with a beard comb can also act as a styling aid.

Captain Fawcett - Wooden Handle Faux Fur Brush Captain Fawcett is delighted to have created a sustainably sourced, wooden handled synthetic fibre shaving brush which is entirely vegan friendly. When used in conjunction with the Captain’s shaving soap or cream it will produce a luxuriant, rich and voluminous lather enabling the closest of wet shaves. Traditionally the very best shaving brushes were crafted using farmed Badger hair, due in no small part to the excellent water retaining properties of the cuticle. However after no little research, the bods in the backroom have come up with a rather fine alternative and developed a synthetic fibre possessing incredibly soft tips, that are beneficial to those with sensitive skin whilst replicating the brush properties required for a simply superb shave.
