East of India was started by John Ayris and Anne Spratling in 1991. The original inspiration for East of India was conceived during the couples’ travels through Asia, where they met a talented craftsman selling his products. They purchased some items for friends at home and they were so well received, the couple decided to look into a new business venture. The rest as they say is history.
The East of India range is designed in a studio in Folkestone. Some of the original artisans are still involved in production, as well as many of the couples’ family and friends.
The team at East of India are passionate about the full production process, from the original design to the final finished product. Our favourites at Foxy Lots are the ceramics, ( especially the coasters) and the fabulous wooden scenes.
